It utilizes an electrochemical sensor to detect for threats of hazardous carbon monoxide. Since carbon monoxide can’t be seen, smelled or tasted in the air, it is a leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America. This CO detector features a 2 AA battery backup for reliable operation even in the event of power outages. It also features a tamper-resist option that can be activated which causes the unit to alert if it has been unplugged or come loose from an outlet.
