The BL™ Brushless motor is designed to automatically optimize the battery’s energy when under load to run 50% longer while the tool’s Quick-Shift Mode™ uses the brushless motor’s electronic controls to find the best balance of speed and torque for each application. In addition, the brushless motor eliminates the need for carbon brushes which allows the motor to run longer, run cooler and run more efficiently. The tool’s Tightening Mode (T-mode) provides faster tightening of self-drilling screws which helps prevent damage to the screw and work piece.The proprietary hammer and anvil impact mechanisms are built for durability and maximum fastening and driving power. They are constructed using the best raw materials and highest quality steel and then follow a unique heat hardening process. In addition, the gear’s housing is all metal to increase its longevity when used on tough jobsites. Weighing only 3.3-lbs. with the battery (sold separately) and measuring 4-5/8-inches long, this compact tool is ergonomically designed to reduce operator fatigue during continuous use. It even has rubberized soft grips for additional user comfort. For added convenience, the tool features a one-touch 1/4-inch hex chuck for quick bit changes and dual LED lights with an independent on/off switch for illuminating the work surface. This tool is protected by Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) which is a protective seal inside the tool that channels water and dust away from internal components.
