This compact little unit uses PSA abrasives attached to an extremely flat tempered glass wheel, and a slow rpm/high torque motor (580 rpm & 1/5 hp), to sharpen a wide range of tools, including chisels, plane blades, or spokeshave irons up to 2” wide, and curved bladed turning and carving tools. The Work Sharp’s air cooled, dry system design also eliminates the need for messy oils or water for cooling and lubrication.

Using a plunge/pull technique, the majority of blades are sharpened bevel up on the underside of the wheel utilizing the sharpening port. The port is designed as a heat sink with routed air flow to aid in blade cooling. Precision angle repeatability is built into the port with pre-set angles of 20, 25, 30, and 35 degrees - no special calibrations or set ups are required! The replaceable abrasive sheet on the rest automatically de-burrs the blade back each time it is inserted or withdrawn from the port. The port’s alignment fence keeps the blade in the proper sharpening position at all times throughout the process.

Tools may also be sharpened free hand above the unit with the assistance of the adjustable top tool rest. The Slotted “See Through” Wheel is perfect for freehand sharpening of curved lathe or carving tools because you can actually see the cutting edge underneath the wheel as you sharpen. The Leather Honing Wheel (optional) can be used to perfectly hone and polish edges. Basic system includes an abrasives starter pack (see listing below).
