World-class precision
The Tormek T-4 Original offers the same precision and stability as our larger models, with a compact design. Vital features such as the motor and main shaft are mounted in the cast zinc top, where the patented universal support mounts are also integrated. This design provides unbeatable precision for the universal support, which guides all jigs and accessories.
Compact and Versatile
Like the larger machine models, the Tormek T-4 Original comes equipped with Tormek's Original Grindstone. What distinguishes the grindstones between the models is their size. Tormek's SG-200 Original Grindstone is optimized to combine efficient steel removal, a nice finish and a long life span. Using the SP-650 Stone Grader that is included with the machine, you can alternate the surface of the grinding wheel from 220 grit to a surface equivalent to 1000 grit, which provides several characteristics in the same single grinding wheel.
Keeps all tools sharp
The Tormek T-4 Original is ideal for sharpening chisels, knives, scissors, and smaller tools such as woodcarving tools. It also works well for woodturning tools and drills. We recommend one of Tormek's larger models for sharpening planer blades and moulding knives. Please note that a few types of woodturning gouges can't be honed using the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig on the leather honing wheel due to the compact design of the Tormek T-4 Original. These tools can be honed freehand instead.

SE-77 Square Edge Jig
- Make your plane irons and chisels sharper than when they were new.
- Easy to set up and use.
- Micro adjust screws to compensate for tiny deviations in tool design.
- Possibility of rounding off the corners of your edge slightly to prevent scratches in the timber you're planing.
- Works with both Tormek T-4 and Tormek T-8, as well as older models.
- Mounts firmly and sharpens safely
- The tool is aligned in the jig along the flat top surface of the tool. The SE-77 Square Edge Jig has a flat shoulder that makes it easy to mount the tool correctly at an angle of 90°. The pressure from the center of the plate is distributed to the edges, positioning the tool firmly in the jig without having to force it to stay in place. Then you just have to check the sharpening angle and set the jig at the right height on the universal support, and away you go!
Micro Adjust Screws for Maximum Precision
The SE-77 Square Edge Jig has been fitted with a movable end that can be adjusted using two small adjustment screws, which allows for fine tuning the settings if necessary. This might be required if the tool is very narrow or not exactly parallel to the grinding wheel, or if the blade is slightly twisted. Fine tuning the settings is done in seconds by releasing one of the adjustment screws and tightening the other.
Sharpening Conical Chisels
The jig's design also allows conical tools that are thicker towards the handle, such as some Japanese chisels, to be positioned and sharpened. The safety stops keep the jig on the universal support bar and prevent the tool slipping off the grinding wheel. So there's no risk of you hurting your fingers while sharpening your tools. The jig fits chisels and plane irons up to 77 mm (3.03") wide.
Sharpen Plane Irons with Rounded Edges
Most plane irons benefit from having a slightly rounded shape. The degree of chamfering depends on the type of hand plane and is roughly equivalent to the thickness of the shavings produced by the plane. The adjustable end of the SE-77 Square Edge Jig allows you to achieve the optimum shape for your tool. When sharpening to chamfer the edges, center the tool below the pivot point of the jig, marked with a line. The more you release the adjustment knobs, the greater the pendulum movement, which increases the chamfer.
