It has a special motorized upper bed that effortlessly moves to the right away from the headstock to double the standard between-centers distance from 20” to 40”. In addition, moving the sliding bed also increases the swing from 23-7/32” to 31-1/4” over the lower bed. This makes the lathe ideal for turning applications such as turning large bowls or platters. This lathe is designed to save on space but is also extra heavy-duty. Constructed of solid cast iron and steel, this robust lathe takes on the stress when turning large diameter bowls or spindles.
