Sorby 765/S16 Modular Tool Rest Stem, 5/8 in. x 3-1/2 in. This stem (or post) is a part of the Robert Sorby Modular Tool Rest System. This system enables turners to build up a collection of tool rests without going to great expense.
Sorby offers six different rests: 4", 6" and 9"; as well as a 9" curved internal and external, and a box platform which can be used in conjunction with just one Stem. Cross bars (or rests) are specially hardened to avoid the troublesome nicks found in common tool rests, and to give a smooth finish.
Stems (posts) thread smoothly and quickly into the Cross Bars and are available in a variety of diameters to fit most popular lathes. Two flats are machined into the Stems to aid in tightening them to or removing them from the Cross Bars. The Stems are also compatible with Sorby's Precision Boring System.
The 765/S16 Stem is 3-1/2" long and matches lathes whose post holder will accept a 5/8" diameter post. England
