These Cortex® Tigerwood Hidden Fasteners for PRO® and EDGE® from TimberTech are their strongest hidden fastener system. They provide an ultra-clean, high quality look to decks and come with color-matched plugs. The specialty deck screw is ACQ approved and has a TORX® ttap® drive system for strength. Unlike other hidden fastener systems, Cortex fasteners can be used on the entire deck surface which includes stairs and perimeters.
Note: TimberTech Cortex fasteners can be used on all full-profile TimberTech deck boards, except for scalloped boards from the Terrain, Prime, Prime+ and Reliaboard collections.
Installation: Predrilling is required when installing Cortex with any uncapped or capped composite deck board. It is recommended to use a 7/32″ drill bit to pilot a hole halfway through the deck board but not into the framing. Cortex for PRO & EDGE is not compatible with metal framing. For steel framing applications, Cortex Drillers (1-5/8″ 410 stainless steel screws) from FastenMaster need to be purchased separately.
