Sorby Universal Sharpening System

Sorby Universal Sharpening System is a specially designed tool rest platform that makes sharpening square or rectangular tools such as bench chisels, plane irons, and wood turning scrapers on your bench grinder simple and efficient. This versatile system can also accommodate roughing gouges and skew chisels with the use of optional extra jigs. It is adjustable in height to fit 6", 7", or 8" bench grinders, and the platform angle can be set precisely to match the bevel angles needed for different tools, aided by a handy angle finder included for consistent settings. The design includes practical features like captive adjusting nuts to prevent loss in sawdust and shavings, and screw slots instead of holes, allowing the system to be moved closer to the grinding wheel as it wears down. Additionally, the Universal Sharpening System is compatible with many of Sorby’s ProEdge Sharpening System jigs when used with the Adapter Table (#447JAT, sold separately), which provides a groove for securely locating extra jigs for enhanced control.
