Sorby TurnMaster w/Handle & TCC Square Cutter is the handled version of Sorby's versatile RSTM-HCT3 TurnMaster Tool, featuring a Square tungsten carbide (TCC) cutter. This tool is best suited for external roughing work and waste removal, but it also performs well for tenoning and other straight-line operations. The Robert Sorby TurnMaster is the first woodturning tool in the world to combine three cutting-edge technologies into one incredibly versatile tool. Its collection of available parts and cutters makes it the most flexible and value-added single turning tool on the market today. The TurnMaster accepts any of three standard cutters—square, round, or detail—as well as a wide range of other cutting tips specially configured to work with it. It incorporates a patented interchangeable cutter head that locks into three positions, allowing for both scraping (fast material removal) and shear scraping (fine finishing and smoothing) options. The round shank has a flat underside for stability on the rest, and a high tensile strength Torx screw keeps cutters tightly secured. A special key is included for quick cutter release. Cutters come in three different materials: tungsten carbide (TC), high-speed steel (HSS), and the titanium nitride (TiN) coated Excelsior line. This variety lets turners select the ideal cutter for the materials being worked on. Super tough tungsten carbide is perfect for roughing operations or abrasive materials like high silica exotic woods. High-speed steel is suited for clean detail and fine finishing, while the titanium nitride coated Excelsior tips offer the same characteristics as plain HSS but with added toughness and prolonged edge life. Both HSS and TiN cutters are resharpenable. The RSTM-HCT3 model comes with a Square Tungsten Carbide cutter and will accept any of Sorby's TurnMaster cutting tips. It also includes a Cutter Release Key, Torx Wrenches, and an Instruction Sheet. The tool features a 12-inch long ash handle and measures 20-5/8 inches overall in length. Made in England.
