Innovative spur drive with spring-loaded center and adjustable bite for safe, efficient turning.
only 3 left in stock
Sorby Steb Drive, 1-1/4 in. is designed to fit seamlessly into the jaws of a chuck, eliminating the need to remove the chuck each time you want to use a drive center. This innovative spur drive, made by Robert Sorby in England, fits neatly in most four-jaw scroll type chucks and features a spring-loaded center point combined with a ring of razor-sharp teeth. By adjusting the tailstock, you can vary the degree of "bite" while keeping the center point firmly in place, offering numerous advantages. For novice turners, a light setting provides safety by stopping the workpiece from revolving if a dig-in occurs, preventing kickback. In time-sensitive production turning, the teeth can be backed off while the point remains in place, allowing you to stop and check the workpiece without removing it from the lathe. Finished pieces and blanks can be exchanged simply by backing off the tailstock instead of starting and stopping the lathe. The size refers to the drive face diameter, and this model comes in diameters of 1/2", 7/8", and 1-1/4". Model Number: LSTBCHUCK32
