Sorby Sovereign Ultima Cutter is an essential tool for woodturners, designed as part of Sorby's innovative Ultima turning system. This cutter excels by slicing through wood rather than scraping it, ensuring smooth, efficient cuts. Its clever design allows wood shavings to clear easily without clogging, making it highly effective on both bowl grain and end-grain projects. Crafted from high-grade high-speed steel (HSS), the cutter is capable of handling both light and heavy cuts with precision. Only one third of the cutter is exposed at any time, allowing it to be rotated twice through 120 degrees before needing to be re-sharpened, which enhances its longevity. Sharpening is straightforward using a diamond hone, and the cutter can be easily removed if necessary. For added convenience, a cutter sharpening jig is available as an optional extra.
