Sorby Small Sovereign Ultima Hollowing System, 16 in. is a versatile tool designed for woodturners looking to create hollow forms up to 11 inches in size using both wet and dry woods. Part of the renowned Robert Sorby Sovereign System, this stand-alone tool features a unique cutter system that slices through wood smoothly rather than scraping, allowing shavings to clear efficiently without clogging. It excels on both bowl grain and end-grain projects, offering the ability to make light or heavy cuts with ease. The innovative micro-adjust feature lets users set the cutter depth precisely, and the high-grade HSS cutter can be rotated twice through 120 degrees before needing to be sharpened. Sharpening is simple with a diamond hone, and the cutter can be removed if necessary. For enhanced sharpening, an optional cutter sharpening jig is available. Constructed from phosphor bronze, the articulating head and link system provide flexibility to create a range of hollow shapes, from traditional vases to more extreme undercut forms. Removing the links allows the tool to function as a straight-sided hollowing probe, and an optional finishing head can be added to achieve a smooth surface finish. This system includes a 16-inch Sovereign handle, articulating head with cutter, 3/8" shank adapter, set screw hex keys, and an instruction sheet, all crafted in England.
