The Robert Sorby TurnMaster is the first wood turning tool in the world to combine three cutting edge technologies in one incredibly versatile instrument. Its wide range of available parts and cutters make it the most flexible and value-added single turning tool on the market today. This tool accepts any of three standard cutters—square, round, or detail—as well as a variety of other specially configured cutting tips. The patented interchangeable cutter head locks into three positions, allowing for both scraping for fast material removal and shear scraping for fine finishing and smoothing. The round shank features a flat underside for stability on the rest, and a high tensile strength torx screw ensures cutters remain securely tightened. Included with the tool are a special key for quick cutter release, torx wrenches, and an instruction sheet. Cutters come in three different materials: tungsten carbide (TC), high speed steel (HSS), and titanium nitride (TiN) coated Excelsior line. This variety allows turners to select the perfect cutter for their specific material. Tungsten carbide is ideal for roughing operations or abrasive materials like high silica exotic woods. High speed steel is best for clean detail and fine finishing, while the titanium nitride coated Excelsior tips offer the toughness and prolonged edge life of TiN with the same characteristics as plain HSS.
