Drawing from extensive experience in the industry, Robert Sorby has created a compact chuck that won’t strain lathe bearings, making it suitable for projects of all sizes. The chuck features a spindle insert system to fit most commonly used lathes, though spindle inserts are sold separately. Its single key operation with positive location and true compression angles on the gears ensures smooth and easy jaw movement, while the articulated key allows access behind larger projects. Jaw stops keep the slides secure, and the enclosed back protects the gearing from dust, with a removable back plate for easy maintenance. A unique silicone safety band on the rim enhances user safety by protecting against injury from the rotating chuck edge. The chuck comes with a wide selection of perfectly matched jaws that offer versatility and extra grip thanks to dovetailed faces and serrated teeth. Measuring 4 inches in diameter and weighing approximately 4 pounds, this chuck is proudly made in Sheffield, England.
