This delicately balanced tool acts as the "plane" of a turner's toolkit, allowing it to glide smoothly along the tool rest without the edges catching. Perfect for smoothing cylinders, cleaning the end grain of spindles, and cutting shallow curves, beads, pummels, and v-cuts, it is indispensable when a fine finish is required. The blade is tanged at one end and measures approximately 8 inches in length overall. Made from high-speed steel (HSS), the blade is 1/4 inch thick.
