Revolutionary spur drive center with adjustable bite and enhanced safety for woodturning.
sorry, this item is out of stock
Sorby Original Stebcentre, 1-1/4 in. x #2MT is a revolutionary spur drive center designed to replace traditional spur drives while offering all the great advantages of the Stebcentre. This innovative tool features a spring-loaded center point combined with a ring of razor-sharp teeth, allowing the degree of "bite" to be adjusted by winding in the tailstock, all while keeping the center point securely in place. This design enhances safety for novice turners by allowing the workpiece to stop revolving if a dig-in occurs, preventing kickback. For time-critical production turning, the teeth can be retracted with the center point still engaged, enabling the workpiece to be stopped and inspected without removal from the lathe. Finished pieces and blanks can be quickly exchanged simply by backing off the tailstock, eliminating the need to start and stop the lathe. The size refers to the drive face diameter, and this model comes in diameters of 1/2", 7/8", and 1-1/4". Manufactured by Robert Sorby in England. Model Number: LSTB232
