For application, start with a clean, dry wood surface free of mildew, dust, dirt, oil, grease, and old stains or sealers. Wood should be completely dry for 48 hours or more, depending on weather conditions. Protect surrounding plants and porous surfaces from overspray. No sanding is required on new wood, but if sanding is done, ensure all dust is removed before staining.
