Crown Pro-PM Detail Gouge, 1/2 in. This Pro-PM version of the Crown Detail Gouge features a long, sweeping side grind designed to make light, precise hollowing cuts, ideal for crafting coves and beads. Its shallow flute provides a smoother cut and reduces vibration by allowing more metal to support the flute. The gouge is equipped with ergonomically designed stained black ash handles that measure approximately 12-1/2 inches in length, contributing to comfortable and controlled use. Crafted in England, this tool is part of Crown's elite Pro-PM range, made from advanced Powder Metal steel. This process compresses and sinters molten steel to create a cutting edge that lasts four to five times longer than conventional High Speed Steel tools. Hardened to between 66° and 68° Rockwell, these tools offer superior wear resistance, excellent grindability, toughness, and high retention of hardness, making them a reliable choice for woodturners seeking precision and durability.
