Crown Colwin Way Skew, 1/2 in. Unlike most traditional turning skew chisels, the 1/2-inch (13mm) Colwin Way Skew chisel features a tapering blade that starts wider at the cutting edge and narrows toward the handle. This historic German-influenced design originates from the Seiffen region in Saxony, where it has long been favored by local toymakers. The Colwin Way Skew is easier to handle due to its flared tip, which counterbalances the intentionally shorter handle. This shorter handle places your hand closer to the cutting area, providing greater control and a more sensitive feel when making planing cuts. The blade’s side has a rolled, rounded edge along nearly its entire length, allowing it to glide smoothly along the tool rest and roll evenly when forming beads. The skew features a 7-1/2 inch blade joined to a 7-3/4 inch polished ash handle with a brass ferrule, resulting in an overall length of approximately 15-1/4 inches.
