This historic German-influenced design, originating from the Seiffen region in Saxony, has been a favorite among local toymakers for generations. The Colwin Way Skew is designed for ease of handling, with a flared tip that counterbalances its intentionally shorter handle. This shorter handle positions your hand closer to the cutting area, providing enhanced control and a more sensitive feel when making planing cuts. The blade’s side includes a rolled edge along nearly its entire length, allowing it to glide smoothly along the tool rest and roll evenly when forming beads. The tool consists of an 8-inch blade joined to a 10-inch polished ash handle with a brass ferrule, resulting in an overall length of approximately 18 inches.
