Bessey Tools 12 in. x 5.5 in. Clamp was introduced in 1936 as the original BESSEY malleable cast iron bar clamp, known as the world's first sliding arm clamp. This clamp features a traditional design with wood handles that remain popular, alongside newer models equipped with "2K" composite handles and "tommy bar" sliding pin handles for enhanced usability. Many clamps include snap-on pressure pads that are easily replaceable, allowing for quick spindle replacement if damaged. The BESSEY anti-slip system integrates a set screw molded into the sliding arm that interlocks with the serrated rail, preventing any sliding movement. The corrugated malleable cast iron fixed jaw and sliding arm provide powerful and rigid clamping, while the top jaw is press fitted to the rail without mechanical fasteners to ensure stability. A high-quality profiled steel rail reinforces against torsional forces, and serrations on six faces further prevent slipping.
