Special Cutting Position

The Kapex incorporates a special cutting position that, when employed, provides greater than usual cutting capacity by utilizing the back portion of the blade more effectively. The Kapex is locked into the special cutting position with the flip of a lever. Cut crown moulding up to 6-5/8" in the nested position providing a cutting capacity equal to some 12" miter saws. Cut material vertically up to 4-3/4" x 3/4" (as pictured).

Dust extraction system design

The flexible and removable rubber dust hood to the rear of the blade deflects waste material into the directional dust port for best-in-class 91% efficiency.

Rail Forward Design

The Kapex features a rail forward design which increases precision and creates a compact footprint. The rails are robust at 3mm in diameter and are wide apart. This prevents head play to ensure smooth, accurate cuts every time. The rail forward design also allow the Kapex to be placed against a wall while being used which saves valuable work space. The compact footprint also makes transport and storage easier.

Dust Hood

The Kapex features a dust hood which is responsible for directing the ejection of saw dust from the blade into the dust collection port. This pliable rubber hood arrests chips and helps the Kapex achieve up to 91% dust extraction when using a 36mm dust extractor hose reducing the time spent cleaning up.

Ergonomic Handle Position

A center-positioned handle allows you to make cuts with either hand making it easier to view the cut. Combine the Kapex with the MFT/3-Kapex multifunction table to place the saw at the optimal work height for greater comfort. A two-stage trigger helps prevent accidental triggering.

Dual-line lasers

Fully-adjustable dual-line lasers accurately define the cut area for precise cut placement. Material between these laser lines will be removed, making it easy to precisely align cuts from the left or the right.

Blade Kerf & Guard Design

The Kapex blade creates a thin kerf which reduces load on the motor and improves the cut quality. The blades are specially designed to reduce noise levels and dampen vibration. The large 3mm arbor hole reduces blade deflection. The clear, narrow guard is also designed to improve dust extraction efficiency and visibility. These features allow Kapex to collect up to 91% of the saw dust when using a 36mm dust extraction hose, reducing clean up time.

Deck Height

The deck height of the Kapex matches the height of our Systainer 1 storage containers. On the jobsite, you can use one or more systainers to support the material being cut. The difference in height between the MFT/3 and MFT/3-Kapex multifunction tables is also equal to the height of the deck providing optimal work flow and support.

MiterFast Angle Transfer Device

The Kapex includes an angle transfer device named the MiterFast. The MiterFast makes the transfer of inside and outside angles from the workpiece to the saw quick and easy without complex angle calculations. The MiterFast is equipped with an aggressive locking mechanism to prevent slipping. Angles are easily transferred to the Kapex using the reflective surface of the MiterFast and the dual lasers on the saw.

Miter Lock

The miter lock on the Kapex provides an extremely aggressive hold preventing inadvertent movement even when near a positive detent. When you set a miter angle you can trust that it will be exact. The miter scale provides positive detents at common angles for quick reference. The lock is easily released and engaged by flipping the end up the handle up or down.

MMC Electronics

With variable speed capability, the Kapex enables you to match the speed of the blade to the requirements of the material, preventing burned or melted materials.

Miter Scale

The stainless steel, etched miter scale on the Kapex is large and easy to read. Positioned far from the axis of rotation, the scale is extremely accurate and allows precise settings to a fraction of a degree. The miter scale provides positive detents at common angles for quick reference. The scale reads up to 5º to the left and 6º to the right.

Fine bevel adjustment

Fine bevel adjustment with upfront controls, and large, easy-to-read gauges—coupled with a counterspring mechanism—ensures precise bevel placement.

Direct drive motor

The 1,6 Watt motor in the Kapex utilizes direct drive for a more efficient transfer of energy to the blade. Festool's MMC electronics control the application of that power in a constant speed as you make the cut. The result in a cleaner, more accurate cut than with a conventional miter saw. The motor also has a magnetic brake to reduce the time needed for the blade to spin down.

Trenching Capability

Another unique feature of the Kapex is a special trenching capability. With the simple flip of a conveniently placed knob (shown in photo inset), you can cut trenches to create lap joints or go around pipes and other obstacles. Flip the knob back up and you're back to normal miter saw position in seconds. Turning the knob will adjust the trenching depth. Make quick, accurate dadoes with your miter saw. Now, that's smart!

Keyed, Non-Slip Material Clamp

The Kapex includes a clamp which is keyed to make insertion and removal quick and easy. The clamp will not slide down freely when the lock is disengaged keeping it out of the way while you are positioning your material. A single lever-actuated cam-lock secures the clamp in place and a rubber pad protects your workpiece. The foot on the clamp is oblong shaped providing a flat surface to be placed against the fence.

Crown Stop With Base Extension

Sold as an optional accessory, the Crown Stop with Base Extension (494 369) attaches to the left and right of the Kapex using a V-Groove and locking knob providing additional support surface and aiding in the utilization of the special cut position. The crown stop (not shown in photo) allows the Kapex to be used in the special cutting position to cut crown moulding up to 6-5/8" in the nested position using the back portion of the blade.

Cord & Tool Storage

Protect your investment. The Kapex includes onboard storage for the power cord and the arbor tool. A far superior and safer solution to simply wrapping the cord around the saw during transport. This simple feature protects your cord from damage and prevents tripping. The arbor tool is always handy for quick blade changes using the FastFix system.

Capacity to rival 12" saws

Rivaling most 12" saws, the KAPEX can handle 4-3/4" in its special cutting position, and 6-5/8" crown in the nested position. Can cut miters from 5° (left) to 6° (right).

Counter Spring Balanced Bevel

The bevel adjustment on the Kapex is counter spring balanced meaning that you can position the bevel at any angle and the head will stay in position even when it is not locked in place. This makes angle adjustment much less tedious and more accurate. Bevel gauges are on both sides of the saw for quick, easy reference. Using the micro adjustment knob, the Kapex can be dialed in very accurately to fractions of a degree.

Compact and lightweight

With a rail-forward design, the KAPEX can be placed against a wall for all cutting tasks, maximizing the work space.

Bevel Lock Knob

Use the Bevel Lock Knob conveniently located on the top of the Kapex to control the bevel positive detents and to lock the bevel angle. The counter spring balanced head on the Kapex allows you to position the bevel and let go of the saw with the head moving. Use the fine adjustment knob to control bevel angles in fractions of a degree. The bevel knob has three settings: positive detents at and -45 degrees, free movement between -45 and +45 degrees and free movement up to 47 degrees. Bevels can be made to the left or right and the bevel gauge appears on both sides of the saw.

FastFix Blade Changes

The Kapex features Festool's patented FastFix blade change system. Turning the FastFix knob locks the arbor, mechanically locks out the trigger and allows the blade to be changed with a single hand. Blade changes couldn't be any easier! A cupped steel arbor nut prevents accidental over-torquing and damage to the saw and blade.
