This kitchen tool minces handfuls of fresh herbs such as parsley and basil in a jiffy while eliminating the need to haul out a big, heavy food processor. Simplicity in action, the mill consists of a hopper, a handle, and a crank with 32 tiny blades on its end. The hopper swings open on a hinge so the crank can be inserted from either side--for a right-hander or a left-hander--then snaps shut. Toss herbs into the hopper, grip the handle, turn the crank, and the blades cut the herbs uniformly and shower them, in a final benediction of flavor, onto a dish of pasta, into a bowl of soup, or over a platter of sliced tomatoes. Made of 18/8 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish, the mill measures 8-1/2 inches long, and the hopper is 2-3/4 inches wide at the top and 2 inches deep. Though it's dishwasher-safe, cleaning the mill requires little more than a rinse under running water.
