Product Description

Sapele is a commonly exported wood from Africa. It is dark reddish-brown in color and may be referred to as “Sapele Mahogany” because it is often used as a substitute for Genuine Mahogany. Sapele is commonly used for veneers, plywood, furniture, cabinetry, flooring, boatbuilding, musical instruments, turning and other specialty wood items. The grain of Sapele is typically interlocked but is sometimes wavy. It has a fine uniform texture and nice natural luster. Sapele can have a blunting effect on cutters but overall turns, glues and finishes well. As far as rot and decay resistance, Sapele is rated moderately durable to very durable. It has moderate insect and borer resistance.
