Latin Name Sweetenia macrophylla Family Leguminosae
Distribution: Range extends from Southern Mexico throught Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. Grows to 150 ft in height in the wild and 100 ft in plantation. Density averages 3 lbs per bf. It is stable in use and has moderate steam bending properties.
Uses include plywood, joinery, flooring, boats, furniture, patterns, molds and is also selected for figure to use in veneered panels. Medium hardness and liable to insect attack.
