The CollectA Protoceratops with Movable Jaw is a replica of a prehistoric herbivorous ceratopsian from the Late Cretaceous era. Its name means First Horned Face. This species of dinosaur grew up to 5.9-feet long and lived in the dry regions of what are now Mongolia and China. The Protoceratops had a sharp beak and teeth that helped it to cope with the dry and tough vegetation that was available to eat. The notable neck shield is believed to have been for species recognition or display in mating rituals. The Protoceratops was a common prey for Velociraptors.
